It's not just about reaching 5,960 meters; this is for those who seek more than a summit: a transformation.

Rest under a blanket of stars in one of the clearest skies on the continent, where each luminous night will show us the way.
Immerse yourself in true silence: no signal, no screens, no rush. Just you, the group, and the infinite grandeur of nature.

Imagining the city of Mendoza in the distance, but dazzled by the immensity of the mountains.
Reach the summit of Cerro Plata, at 5,960 meters, slowly but surely.

Make altitude your ally, strengthen your body, and learn to maintain your pace, even when the effort challenges you to slow down.
Treat yourself to a break at the best refuge in the area at 2,600 meters, after several days of trekking.
THE BORDER, An 8-day expedition in the Andean silence
Day 1 – How does the journey begin?
I'll pick you up from the airport or your hotel in Mendoza. We'll arrive at the San Bernardo refuge that same day. Your body will begin to feel the change in altitude. It's a great way to get into the swing of things, get to know the group, and prepare your gear.
Day 2 – What is the first objective?
We leave early for an acclimatization hike, where we'll carry out a portage to the Veguitas Superior camp (3,400 m). This is a crucial day to adapt, test our pace, and adjust our gear. We return to the refuge to rest.
Day 3 – How do we continue the climb?
Today we're heading for our first objective: leaving the comfort of the refuge and heading deeper into the mountains. We'll start early from the refuge and steadily gain altitude. Sharing the camp and enjoying an incredible starry night will be our first reward. From here on, our nights will be spent in a tent.
Day 4 – What’s next?
Today is undoubtedly a crucial day; it will put us to the test. After breaking camp and dividing our loads, we face a day that will take our breath away. Step by step, unhurriedly, we will travel and contemplate the transition of the mountain, leaving behind the shades of green to enter a world of browns, grays, and whites with the appearance of the snow. Having camp set up and enjoying ourselves inside the tent will be a warm embrace on this cold day.
Day 5 – Shall we rest?
Yes, and it's strategic. Some take advantage of the opportunity to walk slowly, others enjoy the view of the waterfall. It's a day to slow down, hydrate well, and mentally prepare for the big day.
Day 6 – What is the climb to Cerro El Plata like?
Today we're heading for our goal: 5,960 m. We start early, starting at 4,200 m, and steadily gain altitude. The summit offers a breathtaking 360° view. The return journey is long, but your body responds differently after that.
Day 7 – How does the expedition end?
We have breakfast, organize our gear, and head back to the refuge. After a shower, we continue down to the meeting point in Mendoza. The finish is peaceful, giving us time to descend calmly and absorb everything we've experienced.

This expedition requires advance planning
Due to logistics, altitude, and environmental concerns, we work with small groups and limited dates. If you'd like to participate, please contact us to see if it's a suitable time and if there's still availability.
Do I need previous mountain or high-altitude experience to join this expedition?
For the Ascent Milestones we recommend having some previous experience, as this way you will enjoy the experience much more. We recommend the Initiation Milestones to mountaineering.
What is the level of physical demand and what preparation do you recommend?
The level of challenge is high, and even though we don't use our hands to climb, it's challenging. You don't need to be super fit; we recommend regular exercise three or four times a week. If you'd like to start this type of activity, contact us and we'll work out a plan together. We also recommend a checkup with a doctor beforehand.
What type of accommodation is included during the expedition days?
The accommodations that are included are detailed in the section on what is included and what is not.
What personal equipment should I bring and what happens if I don't have everything?
The requested equipment will be provided on a form in advance so you can read it. If you don't have the requested equipment, it can be rented. We recommend not purchasing it without our advice.
What happens if I don't reach the summit for personal or weather reasons?
We will always attempt to reach the summit within a safe environment. Whether due to weather, personal reasons, or the guide's decision, we fail to reach the summit. We will return to the tent or shelter with the satisfaction of having attempted it.
